On Thursday night of the Republican National Convention I witnessed the most disgusting and obscene political act of my 26 years of existence. The act that I am referring to is the airing of a “9/11 tribute” video, with the obvious purpose of political gain. The video, which is available on MSNBC’s website though I am choosing not to link or embed it out of respect, shows graphic footage of the attacks, including the second plane hitting the towers, people fleeing, the towers smoking and collapsing, the narrator mentioning bodies falling.
Using this video, attempting to remind people of their fear, pain, sadness, and anger, in order to blatantly take advantage of those feelings to gain political support is inexcusable.
This is all I can bring myself to say about this. There are not adequate words to describe what they have done.
I will let Keith Olbermann end this post with his reaction to the video:

1Yeah, after subjecting myself to three nights of their swill — starting with the “tribute” to the fallen Navy SEAL which was nothing short of exploiting a dead hero for political advertisement — I can come up with only one remotely comprehensive term for the entire RNC this year: Patriotism bukkake. And yeah, it's as disgusting as it sounds.
